Panch Jyotirlinga Tour from Pune — 4 Nights 5 Days

Panch Jyotirlinga Tour from Pune — 4 Nights 5 Days

Maharashtra is the only state with five Jyotirlingas, and completing all five in one journey is something most pilgrims do once. The circuit runs from Bhimashankar in the Sahyadris across to Aundha Nagnath and Parli Vaijnath in Marathwada — around 1,600 kilometres, which is why five days is the right length rather than an ambitious four.

Kad Cabs runs the Panch Jyotirlinga tour from Pune over 4 nights and 5 days as a private cab tour, same car and driver throughout.

The Five Jyotirlingas

  • Bhimashankar — in the Sahyadri forests, source of the Bhima river, 124 km from Pune
  • Trimbakeshwar — near Nashik, the three-faced linga, source of the Godavari
  • Grishneshwar — near Aurangabad, beside the Ellora caves, the twelfth Jyotirlinga
  • Aundha Nagnath — in Hingoli district, said to be the first of the twelve, with Hemadpanti architecture
  • Parli Vaijnath — in Beed district, on a hilltop, associated with healing

Five-Day Itinerary

Day 1 — Pune to Bhimashankar, night at Nashik

Early pickup from your Pune address, drive through the ghats to Bhimashankar. Darshan, lunch nearby, then on to Nashik. Reaching Bhimashankar early makes a real difference to the queue.

Day 2 — Trimbakeshwar, night near Aurangabad

Morning darshan at Trimbakeshwar, with time for Abhishek or Narayan Nagbali if arranged in advance. Afternoon drive towards Aurangabad with halts.

Day 3 — Grishneshwar and Ellora, night at Aurangabad

Early darshan at Grishneshwar. The Ellora caves are minutes away and worth the detour if you have the energy. Overnight in Aurangabad.

Day 4 — Aundha Nagnath, night at Parli

The long drive east into Hingoli district. Aundha Nagnath sees far fewer visitors than the western temples, so darshan is usually quick and peaceful. Onward to Parli for the night.

Day 5 — Parli Vaijnath and return to Pune

Morning darshan at Parli Vaijnath, then the drive back to Pune with rest stops. This is the longest single driving day, so an early start matters.

Why Five Days and Not Four

The eastern temples — Aundha Nagnath and Parli — add roughly 700 km to the three-temple circuit. Compressing that into four days means arriving after darshan hours or driving late into the night with an exhausted driver. Five days keeps each day under a reasonable driving load and gets you to every temple in the morning.

What Is Included

Included:

  • Private car with driver for all five days
  • Fuel, tolls, parking and state permits
  • Driver allowance for the full duration
  • Pickup and drop at your Pune address
  • Flexible halts and route adjustments

Not included: hotels, temple entry and puja charges, meals, guide services.

Choosing a Vehicle

Over five days and 1,600 km, vehicle comfort compounds. An Innova Crysta is the sensible choice for a family of five or six. For larger groups, a tempo traveller for the Jyotirlinga tour or a Force Urbania costs less per head and keeps everyone together. A Ertiga works for four with light luggage.

Best Time to Travel

October to March. The Marathwada stretch to Aundha Nagnath and Parli gets uncomfortably hot from April onwards, and the Bhimashankar ghats need care in monsoon. Shravan and Mahashivratri are the most auspicious and by far the most crowded — book several weeks ahead if you are travelling then.

Practical Notes

  • Book hotels in advance for Nashik and Aurangabad; Parli has limited options
  • Carry government ID for all travellers
  • Mobile signal is weak around Bhimashankar and patchy in parts of Hingoli
  • Arrange Abhishek and Narayan Nagbali puja at Trimbakeshwar separately, in advance
  • Carry cash — card acceptance is limited at the eastern temples

Shorter Alternative

If five days is too long, the 3 Jyotirlinga tour over three days covers Bhimashankar, Trimbakeshwar and Grishneshwar. See also Panch Jyotirlinga by taxi for fare details and vehicle comparison.
