Satara is 121 km from Pune on NH-48, about two and a half hours — one of the easiest drives out of the city. A one-way drop starts at ₹2,360.
Most of the year it is a straightforward business or family trip. For three or four weeks a year, it is something else entirely.
Kaas Pathar is a UNESCO World Heritage site 25 km from Satara, and for a few weeks after the monsoon the entire plateau flowers — hundreds of species, changing colour week by week.
The window is roughly late September to the first week of October. It shifts by a week or two each year depending on the rains, and outside it there is nothing to see but grass.
Things people find out too late:
Book a full-day or round trip for Kaas. A drop leaves you at a plateau with no transport back.
Pune → Katraj Tunnel → Shirwal → Khandala → Satara on NH-48.
The only slow stretch is getting through Katraj at peak hours. Leave before 8 AM or after 11 and it is a genuinely easy run.
For a Kaas trip with a group, book a size up. There is a lot of getting in and out, and the shuttle queue is easier if everyone arrives together.
Thoseghar and Kaas are in the same direction and combine into one comfortable day.
Mahabaleshwar is 55 km from Satara, and many people do both in one trip — Satara and Kaas on day one, Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani on day two.
Tell us at booking if you want both. Combining is cheaper than two separate trips, and the driver plans the ghat timing properly. See Pune to Mahabaleshwar.
Heading further south? Kolhapur is 115 km beyond Satara, and Goa continues on the same highway.
One-way drop from ₹2,375 — right for relocations, family visits, or if you are being collected there.
Round trip — for a day of business or a hospital visit. The driver waits and brings you home, which costs less than two one-way bookings.
Full day with the car — the only sensible option for Kaas, Thoseghar or Sajjangad. These are all 15 to 25 km outside the city in different directions with no transport between them.

Landing at Pune airport and heading to Satara? We run it as a direct transfer with flight tracking, so a delayed landing does not cost you the booking. Add about 40 minutes to the drive from the airport side of the city. See Pune airport cabs.
Satara's MIDC areas and the sugar and engineering belt draw regular weekday travel from Pune. Monthly billing with GST invoices and fixed drivers available. See corporate taxi service.
Toll, parking and driver allowance are charged separately at actual cost and shown on your bill. Kaas Plateau entry passes are booked by you, not by us.
Call +91-8466847272 or use the search box above. If you are going for Kaas, tell us the date early — that window fills up weeks ahead in both cars and entry passes.
