Pune to Ashtavinayak cab service

The Ashtavinayak yatra covers eight Ganpati temples scattered across Pune, Raigad and Ahmednagar districts. Doing all eight properly takes two days and roughly 650 km — and the traditional order matters, because the yatra is considered complete only when you return to the first temple.

The eight temples in order

1. Moreshwar, Morgaon — the starting and finishing point, about 65 km from Pune
2. Siddhivinayak, Siddhatek — the only one across the Bhima river, in Ahmednagar district
3. Ballaleshwar, Pali — the only temple named after a devotee
4. Varadvinayak, Mahad — where the oil lamp is said to have burned continuously since 1892
5. Chintamani, Theur — the largest of the eight, close to Pune
6. Girijatmaj, Lenyadri — cut into a hillside, reached by around 300 steps
7. Vighnahar, Ozar — known for its golden dome
8. Mahaganapati, Ranjangaon — the last before returning to Morgaon

How the two days work

Day 1 — Early start to Morgaon, then Siddhatek, then across to Pali and Mahad in Raigad. Overnight near Mahad or Lonavala.

Day 2 — Theur, Lenyadri, Ozar and Ranjangaon, then back to Morgaon to complete the circuit and home to Pune.

Doing all eight in one day is technically possible and genuinely exhausting — about 14 hours with almost no time at any temple. We do not recommend it for families with elderly travellers.

Practical notes

• Lenyadri involves around 300 steps — plan for it if elderly travellers are with you
• Start each day by 5 AM; the distances add up fast
• Ganesh Chaturthi and Sankashti days are the most auspicious and by far the busiest
• Several temples have small local eateries but few proper restaurants — carry water
