Pune to Goa is 450 km and around nine hours of driving. A one-way drop starts at ₹8,775, with fuel and driver included.
That is a real amount of money, so before the sales pitch, here is the honest version of when a cab makes sense on this route and when it does not.
Two people travelling light — a flight is usually cheaper and takes an hour. Book the flight.
Four to six people with luggage — the cab wins clearly. Four flight tickets plus airport transfers at both ends usually costs more than one car, and you arrive at your hotel door instead of at Dabolim or Mopa with bags.
You want a car in Goa — this is the strongest case. Goa's attractions are spread across 100 km from Arambol to Palolem, and local taxis there are expensive and not always available when you want them. Bringing your own car and driver solves the whole holiday, not just the journey.
Odd hours, or travelling with elderly parents or small children — door to door with your own space beats an airport at 5 AM.
Pune → Satara → Karad → Kolhapur → Nipani → Belgaum → Anmod Ghat → Goa on NH-48.
There is a longer alternative via Sawantwadi and Amboli Ghat, which is considerably more scenic and adds around an hour. Worth it if the drive itself is part of your holiday, not if you are trying to reach a hotel.
Day — leave Pune at 5 AM, reach Goa around 3 PM with two stops. You see the ghats, you arrive in daylight, and you get half a day in Goa.
Night — leave around 9 PM, reach at dawn. Clearer roads and you do not lose a day, but you also see nothing, and it is harder on the driver.
We do run night departures, and our drivers on this route take mandatory rest breaks. But if the schedule allows, a day drive is the better trip.
Actual stops on this route, not the Mumbai highway:
Tell us at booking if you want a proper halt at Kolhapur — we plan the day around it rather than treating it as a delay.
This is nine hours in a car. The choice matters more here than on any short route.
Our honest advice on this route: book one size up. The extra cost spread across nine hours and four people is small; the difference in how everyone feels on arrival is not.
Door to door anywhere in Goa:
South Goa is roughly 40 km further than North Goa, so fares differ slightly by drop point. The figure you see before booking is what you pay.
Two arrangements people use:
Drop and return — the driver drops you and heads back. Cheapest if you are flying home or have transport arranged in Goa.
Car stays with you — the driver stays for your holiday and takes you around Goa. Costs more, but replaces every local taxi you would otherwise hire, and Goa's taxi rates are famously high. For a family doing beaches, churches, spice plantations and a Dudhsagar trip, this usually works out cheaper overall.
See outstation cab booking in Pune for how multi-day fares work.
Goa is a different state, so an interstate permit applies. This is charged at actual cost and shown separately on your bill, along with toll and parking. Nothing is added afterwards.
Driver allowance applies on multi-day trips and is quoted upfront.
Christmas, New Year and long weekends book out weeks ahead in both directions.
Toll, parking and the interstate permit are charged at actual cost and shown separately.

A one-way drop starts at Rs 8,775 for a Wagon R, Rs 9,135 for a Swift Dzire, Rs 12,375 for an Ertiga, Rs 15,300 for an Innova and Rs 18,900 for an Innova Crysta. All include 450 km, fuel and driver. Toll, parking and the interstate permit are charged at actual cost.
Around nine hours of driving for 450 km via NH-48 through Kolhapur and Belgaum, or ten to eleven hours with proper stops. The ghat descent into Goa is the slow section.
For two people travelling light, a flight is usually cheaper. For four to six people with luggage, the cab wins once you count four tickets plus airport transfers at both ends. It also gives you a car for the whole holiday.
A day drive leaving Pune at 5 AM gets you to Goa by mid-afternoon and you see the ghats. A night departure means clearer roads and no lost day, but is harder on the driver. We run both.
Yes, and for a family it often works out cheaper overall. Goa's attractions are spread across 100 km and local taxi rates are high, so keeping your own car and driver replaces every local hire.
Book one size up from what you would take on a short route. A Dzire for four is the economical sensible choice; an Ertiga for six with holiday luggage; an Innova Crysta if elderly parents are travelling or the car is full.
Anywhere, door to door — Calangute, Baga, Anjuna, Arambol and Panaji in the north, Colva, Palolem and Margao in the south, plus Dabolim and Mopa airports and the railway stations. South Goa is about 40 km further, so fares differ slightly.
Yes, and it is the natural lunch halt. Tell us at booking if you want an hour for Mahalaxmi Temple darshan and we plan the day around it.
No. The Goa interstate permit, toll and parking are charged at actual cost and shown separately on your bill. Nothing is added after the trip.
