Pune to Surat is about 460 km and takes roughly 8 hours via the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, then NH-48 through Vasai, Palghar and Vapi. Leaving Pune between 5 and 6 AM avoids the Mumbai-region traffic that otherwise adds an hour or more.
Crossing into Gujarat requires a state permit for commercial vehicles. We arrange it and charge it at actual cost, shown as a separate line on your bill. Note that Gujarat is a dry state — alcohol may not be carried across the border.
Khopoli or Lonavala for the first break, Vasai or Palghar for lunch, and Vapi for a final stop before Surat. On an eight-hour drive, three proper halts is normal and we plan for them rather than pushing through.
The textile and diamond trade generates steady movement between Pune, Mumbai and Surat. For companies making this trip regularly, a monthly account with agreed rates and GST invoicing is simpler than booking each time.
Being direct about this: do not book a hatchback for eight hours. Two to four passengers should take an Etios or Dzire at minimum. Five or six want an Innova Crysta — the difference in seat comfort and cabin noise over this distance is substantial. Groups should book a Force Urbania rather than a standard Tempo Traveller.
